Explore Arniston: Stay at 16 on Main

If you’re planning a visit to the Cape Agulhas area, 16 on Main in Arniston is an excellent self-catering property that accommodates up to 12 guests. Although I’ve previously written about a day trip to Cape Agulhas and Struisbaai, I didn’t have the chance to stay overnight. However, I did visit Arniston back in 2015 for a Valentine’s weekend with high school classmates. Even though I’m no longer in touch with most of them, the trip was unforgettable.

I don’t often review accommodations where I’ve stayed, but in this case, I felt compelled to share my experience. Finding the right place to stay in this region can be challenging, as nearby towns are small and you wouldn’t want to end up in a dirty, cold, or inconveniently locat

Self-Catering at 16 on Main

16 on Main is a spacious self-catering house featuring four double rooms and two twin rooms. The well-equipped kitchen includes everything you might need, and there are ample linens and towels provided. All you need to bring are your groceries, clothes, toiletries, and a camera. The house is just a short walk from the beach—approximately 2.3 km (1.4 miles). It’s immaculately clean, with not a speck of dust in sight. The open-plan lounge and kitchen make the space feel airy and welcoming. The decor includes charming nautical-themed details, such as ornamental shells and sea paintings, reminding you that you’re in a coastal village. Note that the house is self-catering, so you’ll need to stock up on food before arriving, as there are no large malls nearby, and room service is not available.
