Athens is a city with a vibrant nightlife that caters to all tastes and preferences. From chic rooftop bars with stunning views to underground clubs with cutting-edge music, the Greek capital offers an abundance of options for night owls. Last year I visited Athens and had the chance to experience some of the nightlife spots. In this post, I will share with you my top picks for the best places to visit in Athens after dark so that you can get a taste of the city’s unique vibe and make the most of your trip.
The Clumsies
The Clumsies is a must-visit bar in Athens with an impressive selection of unique and interesting drinks. Its standout decor adds to the ambiance, making it a popular choice among tourists and locals alike. Ranked at number 19 on the prestigious top 50 bars list in 2022, The Clumsies is a must-visit spot for any cocktail lover. You can learn more about this top-rated bar at https://www.worlds50bestbars.com/the-list/the-clumsies.html. While I didn’t get to spend much time there due to exhaustion from my travels, it’s definitely a bar I’d love to revisit on my next trip to Athens.

S.i.x Dogs
During my trip to Athens, I made a stop at S.I.X. Dogs for drinks and was blown away by its stunning garden and unique cocktails. Although I didn’t have the chance to try the food, the menu looked amazing. The ambiance of the bar was truly memorable, with beautiful lights and greenery that created a buzzing atmosphere. I highly recommend trying the Rebirth cocktail, as the name suggests, it’s truly a drink to remember. Despite its popularity, S.I.X. Dogs can get crowded quickly, but the experience is worth it. The bar is located downstairs, and although it may look small from the outside, it’s surprisingly spacious inside.

Juan Rodriguez
Juan Rodriguez is a bar in Athens with a stunning interior that’s worth visiting. After receiving a recommendation from a local, my ex-coworkers and I decided to check it out. Despite a sudden rainstorm that caused some hesitation, most of us braved the weather and headed to the bar. It was my first time and first night in Athens and I was determined not to just go back to my hotel room. We were greeted by friendly waiters who offered complimentary snacks like nuts and sweets, which made the wait outside in the rain under an umbrella worth it. Once inside, we enjoyed the lively South African house music and danced while sipping on drinks. The only downside was having to settle the bill we racked up outside before being allowed in, which is different from how things are done in South Africa. But, it was a fun night, and I highly recommend giving Juan Rodriguez a visit.

THE BAR IN FRONT OF THE BAR
Located on Petraki Street in Athens, The Bar in Front of the Bar is a unique streetside cocktail bar. The unconventional concept is marked by a bold and quirky design that infuses humor with its attention-grabbing typography that frequently changes, displaying messages like “We Serve Humans Too” or “Something To Talk To Your Therapist About”. The bar offers only patio seating since there’s no indoor space, and it prides itself on its zero-waste mentality with a small selection of daily rotating cocktails. To keep things interesting, the bar behind The Bar in Front of the Bar is a speakeasy from the same group called Rumble in the Jungle, I visited there as s well but I liked The Bar in Front of the Bar much more. If you’re looking for a fun and unusual experience, The Bar in Front of the Bar is a must-visit destination.

EKEI
If you’re looking for a place to dance the night away in Athens, Ekei Club is the perfect spot. The club mainly attracts a younger crowd and offers a large dance floor with minimal seating. Be prepared to spend most of your time on your feet moving to a diverse mix of music genres. Although there’s a cover charge of 10 euros, it comes with two complimentary drinks, which is a good deal. Keep in mind that Ekei can get very crowded, so it’s advisable to wear comfortable shoes and be ready to navigate through the sea of people. Overall, Ekei is an excellent option for a fun night out with friends.

I’m also going might write a short blog post on what to do at night in Athens if you aren’t into clubbing. And I’m trying to actually write more since I haven’t posted regularly for such a long time. Anyways thanks again for reading and if you are a fellow travel blogger let me know so that I can read your posts.
