Zeitz Mocca is one of Cape Town’s new art galleries. The Zeitz Mocca Museum of Contemporary Art Africa is a key part of Africa’s budding artistic community. The Museum is the largest of it’s kind in Africa. According to Zeitz’s website, the museum seeks to “…(Zeitz MOCAA) collects, preserves, researches, and exhibits twenty-first-century art from Africa and its Diaspora; hosts international exhibitions; develops supporting educational and enrichment programmes; encourages intercultural understanding, and guarantees access for all. Over one hundred galleries are dedicated to a permanent collection; temporary exhibitions; and Centres for Art Education, Curatorial Excellence, Performative Practice, Photography, the Moving Image, and the Costume Institute”
Zeitz is home to an impressive collection of artwork. It also has a sleek restaurant located on the top floor. And from it, you get to seek spellbinding views of Cape Town not to mention the iconic Table Mountain. I have been to Zeitz twice. Once for its grand opening in 2017 and again in July this year just to see if the collection has been updated. Both times I visited I got to enter for free. There’s a list of days when you get to enter for free just see: https://zeitzmocaa.museum/pricing/option-3/
